Five Ways to Shop Smarter with Bedpost at the Auckland Home Show

It’s no wonder that tens of thousands of Kiwis flock to the Auckland Home Show each year – the more than 500 exhibitors, free seminars and range of experts and innovators make it the country’s leading showcase for anyone keen to learn more about the latest trends and products in building and home renovation.

Bedpost has been a long-term exhibitor at the event, which this year takes place at the ASB Showgrounds between September 7 and 11, and knows exactly how visitors can make the most of their visit.

We know that people travel to the show from as far afield as Whangarei and Waikato so it’s important for everyone to know how to beat the crowds and pinpoint exactly what's relevant to them from among so much on show.

1. Think big

The huge impact of the Auckland housing boom and the growth of home renovation shows on TV means that more and more people are looking to events like the Auckland Home Show for inspiration, planning and the finishing touches for whole-home projects. Bedpost franchisor Julia Doak says the typical Home Show customer has now become someone looking to find beds, mattresses and furniture for all their rooms.

“Because these people are renovating or building, they can come and experience our beds and choose designs, makes and models that suit all their bedrooms from the main bedroom, to children’s rooms and spare rooms. And it’s not a problem for us to take orders up to three months ahead of when they want the beds delivered so they can come to Bedpost at the Auckland Home Show, choose what they want and then tick it off their mental list.”

2. Expert advice

The home show is a great place to visit to get the right advice about what beds or mattresses suit you and your family’s specific needs. In order to ensure you get the very best advice at the Bedpost stand, we invited our sleep

experts from throughout all our Auckland stores to work at the show. They’ll work in two shifts each day, one from 10am to 3.30pm and the second from 3.30pm until 9pm to make sure they’re fresh and focused to work with each inquiry.

3. Timing is everything

Because the crowds over the five days can be quite impressive, it makes sense to plan when you’re going to visit the ASB Showgrounds. Julia says her experience over the years has shown her that those who are serious about buying – either because they are looking for a whole house-load of beds or because they are researching a renovation or home make-over – visit on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday to avoid the weekend crowds of browsers. She also says it can pay to leave your visit to later in the day.

“If you’ve got serious business to do, I’d advise that because the show is open Wednesday to Saturday until 9pm and the crowds tend to disperse after 6pm that people leave it until later in the day to visit. You can get a good car park and make sure you capture the full attention of the exhibitors.”

4. Hunt out innovative and unique products

The home show is a great place to highlight new and innovative products and services and Bedpost always likes to bring something new to their stand. This year we have range of unique, imported products, New Zealand-made high end furniture and New Zealand-made Sealy Posturepedic. Our sleep experts will be on hand to offer personal guidance and advice about our full range of products.

5. Find the right price

As ever, the show is the place to find great prices for home products and services and Julia says the Home Show pricing will be an incentive for people to get their business done during their visit. “The range of exhibitors gives visitors exposure to different products there and then which means they can look around easily and then make their decision on the day,” she says.

So if you’re thinking about buying a new bed or looking to finish off a whole-home renovation with the perfect beds, mattresses and bedroom furniture, come and visit our sleep experts at stand 715 of the Auckland Home Show. You’ll find us in the first pavilion on the left about 10m in from the main Greenland Rd entrance.
